Discussion about strategy and trends of IT education in Ukraine

On December 11-12, 2023, the 10th Anniversary Synergy Conference was held. IT Business & IT Education, organized by the IT Ukraine association and leading international IT companies. During 2 days, the strategy and trends of IT education in Ukraine were discussed, panel discussions, case studies with real practical examples from early adopters in the field of IT education were held. The following were invited among the speakers:

  • Mykhailo Fedorov, Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine;
  • Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine;
  • Andriy Kashperuk, UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group;
  • Olena Samborska, Luxoft;
  • Maria Shevchuk, IT Ukraine Association;
  • Stepan Mitish, EPAM Ukraine;
  • Denys Hrynyov, EPAM University;
  • Anton Chornyi, GoIT;

were also representatives from AUK, Unicorn School, Jooble, GIOS, Softbook, representatives of educational institutions of Ukraine and many other guests!

As part of this conference, a closed Side Event panel discussion “Changes today: results of the IT for Uni: Bootcamp project – how was it?” was held. This project is dedicated to the training of modern managers of higher education in Ukraine.

As speakers were invited:

  • Denys Hrynyov, Vice-President for educational issues of the IT Ukraine Association, Head of educational programs EPAM University в Україні;
  • Andrii Pereymybida, Director of the Talent Development Center, SoftServe;
  • Volodymyr Yantsov, Educational Manager, Sigma Software;
  • Ella Nazarenko, Head of the Center for the Development of the Premium Segment and Individual Business, UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group;
  • Oleh Zahozhai, Head of the Department of Information Technologies and Programming, Eastern Ukrainian National University named after Volodymyr Dal, Director of the IT Solutions Center.

Speakers raised topical issues of changes in the higher education system, the interaction of IT education and business, as well as the role of IT companies in improving IT education in Ukrainian universities. As part of the discussion, further vectors of cooperation and development of the “IT for Uni: Bootcamp” project, which will continue in 2024, were determined.

FYI. “IT for Uni:  Bootcamp” is a free training course for representatives of higher education and heads of higher education institutions on the topics of management and administration using the example of the IT industry. In 2023, 129 participants were selected. Among the participants are rectors, vice-rectors, deans, directors, heads of departments, heads of departments, professors and teachers from 27 cities and 80 universities of Ukraine. The training was conducted for 5 weeks in the framework of 5 modules: a comparison of the work of a university and an IT company, a project manager in the Agile era – a training course as a project, attracting funding and financial management + CSR and sustainability, AI in the work of an educational institution and cooperation with international partners . In the following year, it was decided to expand the range of issues of the training program, which will allow employees of higher education institutions to effectively cooperate in the market of educational services.
